Ethylcellulose CAS 9004-57-3
Witte tot lichtgrijze vloeibare pasta, thermoplastisch. Het is hittebestendig, verkleurt bij hoge temperaturen (240 °C) en verliest zijn oorspronkelijke fysische en chemische eigenschappen. De viscositeit moet worden gespecificeerd voor commerciële producten. De relatieve dichtheid is 1,07-1,18, de brekingsindex is 1,47 en het verwekingspunt ligt tussen 100 en 130 °C. Het kan een taaie film vormen en behoudt zijn flexibiliteit bij lage temperaturen. Kan worden gemengd met hars, was, olie, enz. Stabiel ten opzichte van alkaliën en verdunde zuren. Het verwekingspunt en de hygroscopiciteit nemen af met een toenemend ethoxygehalte.
