Ammoniummagnesiumfosfaathexahydraat. Magnesiumammoniumfosfaat behoort tot het kleurloze orthorhombische kristalsysteem en wordt gekenmerkt door witte, kristallijne, fijne deeltjes of poeder met een dichtheid van 1,71 g/ml. Het is licht oplosbaar in koud water, oplosbaar in heet water en verdund zuur, onoplosbaar in ethanol en ontleedt in alkalische oplossingen. Wanneer magnesiumammoniumfosfaat tot 100 ℃ wordt verhit in een ammoniakstroom, verliest het 5 moleculen kristalwater en wordt het een monohydraat.
