Octyl 4-methoxycinnamaat (OMC) is een organische verbinding die voorkomt in sommige zonnebrandcrèmes en lippenbalsems. Het is een ester gevormd uit methoxykaneelzuur en 2-ethylhexanol. Het is een vloeistof die onoplosbaar is in water.

1. UV-absorber
Unilong Octyl Methoxycinnamate wordt voornamelijk gebruikt in zonnebrandcrèmes en andere cosmetica om UV-B-stralen van de zon te absorberen en zo de huid te beschermen tegen schade.

2. Bescherming tegen zonnebrand
Het wordt gebruikt bij de bereiding van zonnebrandcrème (crème, melk, vloeibaar) en andere huidverzorgingscosmetica. Het absorbeert effectief ultraviolette straling in de zon, voorkomt zonnebrand en is tevens een therapeutisch middel tegen lichtgevoelige dermatitis.

3. Industriegebied
Het kan in de industrie gebruikt worden als anti-verouderingsmiddel en UV-absorber voor kunststoffen en inkten.
